IAMGOLD – Côté Gold Mine Project

Côté Gold is an open pit mine near Gogama, Ontario. The mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. and is operated by IAMGOLD. Construction approval had been announced in July 2020, and the project construction was completed. The plant POV had been planned for the fourth quarter of 2022, and the commissioning was planned for the first quarter of 2023. The project featured an open pit mine, an ore processing plant, a mine rock area, a tailing management facility, an accommodation complex, an administrative complex, and other related buildings and infrastructures. The plant processes approximately 36,000 tonnes of ore per day and reached the nameplate capacity by early 2024. The mine has a minimum design life of 17 years, and it operated 24/7 every year.

Pre-commissioning and commissioning planning

• Defined and marked up commissioning systems in P&ID’s and SLD.
• Prepared the list of equipment per commissioning system.
• Identified the required equipment/system test sheets for pre-commissioning and commissioning works.

• Defined commissioning activities and work breakdown.
• Analyzed the scope with IAMGOLD’s operation team to document the operation strategy.
