It is one of 17 Canada Port Authorities (CPAs) in the country, recognized for its strategic importance and its contribution to the country’s economy.
Located in the heart of the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean industrial region, the Port of Saguenay is a natural gateway to Northern Quebec and its vast natural resources. Accessible year-round, its deep-water marine facilities have the potential to accommodate some of the world’s largest ships. Directly accessible from the major North American rail and highway networks, the port is also renowned for the quality and availability of its infrastructures.
Progesys is mandated to carry out a pre-feasibility and to provide the Project Management (PM) services for the Mechanical M U B transport system which are described below:
SERVICES INCLUDE:
- Pre-feasibility Study (completed)
- Manage the coordination of the pre-feasibility study for the supply and installation of a 1.8 km long tubular conveyor and 2 transfer towers.
- Carry out estimation costs for the project.
- Revise the project organization and estimate of the resources required for the project execution phase.
- Estimate of costs related to resources and optimization of their mobilization during all phases of the project.
- Follow-up and update of project schedule.
- Review the final of the PFS-prefeasibility report.
- Manage and coordinate the Pre-Feasibility Study for the supply and installation of a 1.8 km long tubular conveyor and two (2) transfer towers.
- Realization of the cost estimate for the project.
- Estimate and optimize resource costs during all phases of project execution.
- Review the project organization and estimate the resources required for the project execution phase.
- Estimate and optimize resource costs for all phases of project execution.
- Follow-up and update of the project schedule.
- Review of the final Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) report.
- Project Planning
- Prepare and plan project activities.
- Participate in the development of the project implementation program.
- Develop the project strategy, overseeing its execution and monitoring the various aspects of the project.
- Active participation in risk analysis activities.
- Develop general and special conditions and technical specifications for public tenders.
- Plan and lead bidders’ visits.
- Define and prepare processes and tools to be deployed for Project Management (PM) and control.
- Project Execution
- Coordinate the various project activities and provide assistance to the customer.
- Plan and control the project.
- Update the monthly project progress report and keep the customer informed.
- Provide quality management services in accordance with project requirements.
- Manage project risks and opportunities.
- Provide project document and data management services.
- Provide contract administration and procurement services.
- Manage and execute pre-operational verification of equipment.
- Carry out commissioning management.
- Construction Management
- Prepare and lead construction contract kick-off meetings.
- Local recruitment of construction management resources.
- Prepare project manager’s master plan.
- Implement a communication plan for communities and neighbours.
- Plan and coordinate consultations and information sessions with external authorities.
- Preparation of emergency plans in accordance with federal authorities.
- Development and implementation of critical work permits.
- Validation of critical lifting plans.
- Development of a constructability and optimization plan.
- Management plan for construction and reception waste and debris (packaging).
- Access management in line with port standards for controlled and federal access zones.
- Develop and run the site welcome sessions.
- Material control (reception, customs, storage management and site inspection).
