Raizen – E2G Project Pre-operational verification and commissioning
Looking for solutions?
Contact usRaizen was founded in 2011, a joint venture between Cosan and Shell, and is an integrated energy company that produces and sells ethanol, sugar, fuels and Bioenergy. The company held and IPO in August 2021, in an initial public offering that raised R$6.9 billion. In the prospectus, Raizen highlighted that the resources raised in the offer, were used to expand the production of renewable products, with 80% used to build new plants and expand its sales capacity.
One of Raizen’s distinctive features is a proprietary technology that uses sugarcane bagasse as an input to produce second generation ethanol. This biomass is obtained from the processing of sugar cane and the production of first-generation ethanol and sugar. This production method is crucial not only for the efficiency of ethanol production, but also for environmental sustainability, as it reduces waste and makes the most of the natural resources.
2nd generation ethanol, also known as E2G, is considered an advanced biofuel to increase Raizen’s ethanol production capacity by around 50%, without the need to add more land to production. This means increasingly efficient production, generating more liters of ethanol per ton of sugarcane.
