Rio Tinto – Alma Amperage increase to (420 kA) Project

Rio Tinto is a mining and metals company operating in 35 countries around the world, invested in aluminum, copper, minerals, and iron ore.

Progesys provided the coordination of construction, POV, and commissioning services for the project cited below:

Amperage increases to 420 kA (Alma): The project consists of upgrading the equipment of the Alma plants to increase the amperage from 400 kA to 420 kA, thus increasing the annual production by 21 kT / year. This production upgrade requires increasing the anodes length. The longer anode allows for increased carbon availability, heat dissipation, and electrical conductivity.
