DESCRIPTION
The Hibernia production platform is the world’s largest oil platform. It consists of an integrated surface facility of 37,000t mounted on a gravity structure of 600,000t. The platform was towed to its final site and 450,000t of solid ballast were added to fix it in place. Within the gravity base structure are 1.2-million-barrels (190,000 m3) storage tanks of crude oil.
PROGESYS provided services for design and oversight activities related to the supply and manufacture of equipment for the platform ballast.
